The lyrics to “All By Myself” have been playing in my head all day today, because that’s me for the next week. All by myself. (And for those of you who are wondering, it’s in a “Celine Dion” way and not in a “Green Day” way. Perv.) Simeon is in New Orleans til Friday night. He left rain and gloom early Sunday morning and headed for humid and heat. Silly man. He knows we don’t do well in humidity thats why we live in Oregon! You can read all about his adventures while he is away over on his blog. In the mean time, I’m going out with the ladies tonight. We are going to see Saw and then hit Olive Garden for dinner. Gonna get me some Ravioli di Portobello. Yum!
Happy Halloween!
The photos from the 7th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party are up!
Check ’em out! Everyone had a great time. We ate, carved pumpkins, ate, roasted pumpkin seeds (thanks Lisa!) and then ate some more. All the pumpkins turned out really great. Behold:
Bad Hu-mommy!
In the middle of the night, I often get thirsty, so I keep a glass of water beside my bed (I even have a bendy-straw in the cup so I can drink without having to lift my head…but that’s another story). Well last night (or early this morning, I’m not sure of the time only that it was still dark outside) I reached for the glass but instead of grabbing the glass, I knocked it over….right onto my sleeping dog. Poor Ellie! She jumped up and ran to the foot of the bed. I got out of bed and tried to console her, apologizing for dumping water all over her. I turned her bed over, so the wet side was down and tried to coax her back to her bed. She refused and snuck around to Sim’s side of the bed. I felt so bad.
But she must have forgiven me at some point in the night, because when I woke up this morning, she was back to sleeping on her bed again. Poor lil’ thing.
Manzanita: The Girls Weekend
Well, I survived the weekend. I gotta tell ya, it was fantastic. It was just what I needed! We stayed up late, slept in, kept our jammies on all day, watched movies, ate junk food, and started drinking at noon! Who doesn’t love that?!? Here are some of the more flattering (and less incriminating) pictures from the weekend.
A delicate balance of Vodka, Triple Sec, cranberry juice and lime makes for a yummy concoction….and a fun time!
Wheeee!
Ok gang. I’m heading outta town. I’ll have some drunken (slightly censored, I’m sure!) stories to report back after my weekend with the girls. Oh and photos! Can’t forget the photos! 🙂
Oh no. I just had a thought. What am I gonna do all weekend with no blogs to read? NO BLOGS!! Not even Internet!! Oh boy. I guess I am just gonna have to start drinking sooner than I thought.
Going away for the weekend
This weekend I am going out of town for a fun-filled “Girl’s Weekend” with Lisa M. and Lisa P. We rented a beach house in Manzanita so we can drink, relax, drink, hang out, drink, go shopping, and then drink some more. It’s gonna be great! (And I could really use it right about now.) Tonight I have to pick up some groceries, do some laundry and pack my bags because we are leaving as soon as the Lisas get off work.
Also in preparing to “abandon” my husband (as he likes to say), I have to make a list of things he needs to do while I am away. I thought I would share that with all of you, ’cause you know how I love lists!
- Feed the dogs: 6am & 6pm.
- Make sure there is water in all the water dishes.
- Change the water in the fish bowls. I already set out the new water and added the drops.
- Change your clothes…DAILY!
- Get a hair cut.
- Make sure you eat. (I stocked the fridge, so you have no excuses!)
- …and put the dishes in the dishwasher when you are done.
- If you make a mess when the boys are over, clean it up.
- Don’t go and see any movies you know I want to see.
- Make the bed….just because I am not here is no reason to leave things all disheveled. Besides, you have to make the bed to keep the kitties off the pillows. (I hate cat hair on my pillows/sheets)
- Plug in the pumpkin lights in the front window when it gets dark.
- Unplug the lights when you go to bed.
- I think this is implied, but just in case….NO HOOKERS!!
And it’s a working list, so it may change as I come up with more things!
Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch
Ok, as promised, here are some of the pictures I took on Saturday at the Lakeview Farms pumpkin patch and corn maze.
The gangs all here! From left to right: Penny, David, Lisa M., John, Kaylee (way up top!), Simeon, Nick and David.
In the process
Last night I was frantically organizing my photos from the corn maze and pumpkin patch so I could put them live today for your viewing pleasure. Since there are just shy of 400 pictures from the weekend to sort through (yes, I know I have issues, but my camera is just that cool), it took quite some time. Then, just as I was about to call Sim to have him help me upload them correctly, my computer crashed. That’s right. Full on froze and refused to play. It was late and I did not want to sort through them all again. Sorry. I will work on it tonight and (hopefully) have them up tomorrow.
I also wanted to thank all of you for your kind words and support. I am definitely getting better at dealing with failure (there I said it). The jury is still out as to whether that is a good thing or not.
It must be said.
I don’t really know how to say this, as I hate the “F-word” but my test did not go as, shall we say, planned. I have been having quite the time coming to terms with this situation. I go from anger, to uncontrollable tears, to humiliation, to simply “meh.” I am definately better when I am not telling someone what happened. I do not deal well with disappointment. I have made the required calls. Put the word out. Now I am just hoping I can make it through Monday (I did ask my boss if there was a way I could work from home. He laughed. Did he not know I was serious?). I am not sure what went wrong, but I am going to do whatever I can to correct it. At least the study material I used was guaranteed, so they have to pay for the next test. But oh God did I want to be done with this crap already. Oh well. I am getting up, moving on, and damn it I am going to have a fun weekend. (I hope.)
Mmmmm…
I just wanted to let you all know that when you are studying, and subsequently, starving, the most wonderful food in the world is Kraft Spiral Macaroni & Cheese. Mmmmm!
That is all. Back to studying.
